Looking back upon the Summing-up of Ethnic Studies in Vietnam since 1980 until Now and the Research Orientation in the Coming Time

Abstract

In the year of 2012, the Institute of Anthropology initiated the summing-up program of ethnic studies in Vietnam since 1980-the time point after the List of Ethnic components in Vietnam published in the year of 1979-to present. To serve the summing-up, during 2012-2015 years, the Institute of Anthropology together with many other institutions and researchers organized the annual anthropological conferences; set up the research program of socio-economic change of 54 ethnicities; published many related research findings in the special issues of Anthropological Review and books. By doing so, the Institute of Anthropology made its contributions to the assessment of successes and limitions of the studies in the past time, at the same time proposed the orientation of ethnic research from the 2016 year to the 2020 year and the vision to the year of 2030
