The Influence of Cultural Elements on the Perception of Autistic Disorder of the Parents of Autistic Children in Hanoi

Abstract

This study focuses on bringing to light the influence of cultural elements on the perception and explanation of autistic disorder of the parents of autistic children from which the parents of autistic children make their own selection of treatment, intervention methods. Due to the complexity of autistic syndromes and the lack of information of the treatment effect, the selection of treatment methods of the parents for their autistic children depends on many different factors such as their belief in the growth of their childen, their understanding of syndromes, reasons and evolvement of autistic syndrome and especially the influence of cultural elements. Facing a difficult and complicated problem such as the treatment, intervention for autistic children in Hanoi cultural context, the individual parents select their treatment, intervention for their autistic children in their own ways. These ways express the common context that scienctists still have been in process of studying, seeking and bringing to light the reasons and treatment, intervention methods for autistic children as well as the distinctiveness - the specific cultural  characteristics of Hanoi city.
