Community Spirit in Catching Sea Products of the Fishermen in the Central Coastal Area
Abstract
The article deals with the community spirit in catching sea products of the fishermen in Ly Son island district (Quang Ngai province) and Binh Minh commune (Thang Binh district, Quang Nam province) - the communities of fishermen who have had the traditions of making their living in the sea area belonging to two archipelagos named Paracels and Spratlys, mainly by the diving for holothurians and fishing cattle-fishes. The catching sea products on sea with many dangers and unlucks needs a big capital for purchasing modern ship and fishing tackles including fish-nets, stable labor source and so on which are the elements affecting the community spirit of fishermen in the catching sea products. The community spirit is expressed most clearly in that the fishermen who have blood and neighboring relationships with each other often have common ships, fish together, etc. It helps the fishermen overcome the difficulties and challenges to stick to the sea as long as possible
