Some Theoretical Issues of Ethnic Relationships
Abstract
The writing introduces synoptically some conceptions of ethnic relationships including ethnicity, nation and ethnic relationships. Based on the review of some documents, the author makes presentation and discussion of the three different theoretical viewpoints (including functionalism, evolutionism and pluralism) when dealing with ethnic relationships. Born in the different historical backgrounds, each viewpoint reflects the historical background of a concrete period, nation or geographical region. The main trends of research approach to ethnic transnational relationships - a brilliant subject of ethnic relationships, also are mentioned, including: mutual help and maintenance of linkage, response and adaptation, and conflict.
