Some Cultural Elements of Ngai People in Dong Hy District, Thai Nguyen Province

Abstract

The Ngai people has population of 1,000 people, distributing most crowdedly in Thai Nguyen province but concentrating mainly in Tam Thai village, Hoa Thuong commune, Dong Hy district. Most Ngai people live intermingled with other ethnicities. The intermingling residence and the increasing cultural contact have affected strongly the Ngai culture. Especially, since the Innovation (1986) up to present, under the impact of market economy, integration and development, a lot of aspects of material and spiritual culture of the Ngai peole have changed in direction of the fading of traditional elements on base of the adoption of new, modern ones.
