  • Nguyễn Văn Toàn

Abstract

From the pure swiddeners, after several decades of implementation of the fixed cultivation and settlement, the economic life of the Hmong people in the west region of Nghe An province has had its important changes from the forest land tenure, agricultural and non-agricultural activities to the exchange and consume. The market economy step by step has penetrated into and has developed in their community life and structure of careers, seedlings and stocks has become more diversified. The income of households has increased and the life of people has been improved. Yet, the transformation of structure of careers, seedlings and stocks has taken place slowly, mainly in the favorable localities. At present, the Hmong people still have faced the difficulties: the productive land shortage, gradual loss of many traditional crafts, difficulties of product sale due to the smuggling, especially the drug trafficking.
