Livelihood Restoration of the Resettled Communities of Son La Hydroelectricity and the Roles of Ethnic Knowledge

Abstract

The writing concentrates on the analysis of the livelihood change and roles of ethnic knowledge in the livelihood strategy to stable life and to develop production of the resettled households and communities under the impacts of Son La Hydroelectric work and arisen challenges. The change of the living conditions, exist space, climate, and productive and business conditions has affected strongly the life of resettled households and communities. Although there have been the quite satisfactory compensation and assistance of the Vietnamese government for the losses of land, trees and plants, houses, etc., the life of resettled people still has faced many difficulties. In the resettlement sites, due to the shortage of premises for development of production, the ethnic knowledge of development of economy, especially agricultural economy, have not been restored yet to be a base for transition of economic mechanism.
