Elderly Roles among Ethnic Minorities in the Central Highlands Nowadays
Abstract
Ethnic minority communities in the Central Highlands, the roles of the elderly and patriaches tend to have a lot of wisdom on agriculture production and necessarily enjoy a high prestige in the communities. This article presents the roles of the elderly in hunger elimination, poverty reduction, sedentarization, fixed cultivation, and in building-up a model of household-based economic development. These findings show that the elderly both contribute to their individual economic development and the poverty reduction in their communities maintaining.
