Changes and Policies of the Preservation and Development of the Traditional Eating and Drinking, Clothes, and Houses in Japan - Lessons Learnt for Vietnam

Abstract

This article shows the indispensable changes in traditional eating and drinking, clothing, and housing of the Japanese people that continues to be practiced today. The Japanese government preserves and upholds the cultural values of the Japanese by promulgating many effective cultural policies. These practices by Japanese government may offer valuable lessons for the government of Vietnam. These lessons involve: 1) professional training; 2) developing and exploiting the needs of the consumers; 3) advertising the products and launching related marketing campaigns; 4) reinforcing the researches and collaboration of the universities, research institutions and the manufacturers to improve the designs and quality of the products; and 5) improving the policies and laws of the preservation of the traditional architectural works that have high historical and cultural values.
