Ethnic Minority Structure and Composition in Our Country
Abstract
This article summarizes some of the major surveys on ethnic minority structure and composition in Vietnam; from there, it gives some prospective directions of scientific research in the future. The results show that ethnic minorities are dispersed in different parts of the country, with an increasing population. Their population size and level of socio-economic development are different from one region to another. The author specifies that the study of characteristics of ethnic groups in our country in the process of population growth and distribution is important. It contributes to a basis for suggestions on specific ethnic policies, and for effective implementation of ethnic affairs. However, this is hard work that requires directions from the Vietnamese Communist Party and the central government, as well as close coordination of various departments in the country, including the involvement of scientists.
