Tóm tắt

This article refers to the shifting cultivation activities of the Hmong through a case study in Yang Han village, Cu Dram commune, Krong Bong district, Dak Lak province. Favorable natural conditions in the Central Highlands have attracted the Hmong people to freely migrate to this region since the 1990s. At their new residence, the Hmong have maintained their traditional shifting cultivation, but also developed intensive cultivation to improve household incomes.  Therefore, their lives have improved. In order to ensure proper social and natural resource management, local governments should urgently resolve the freemigration issues that continuously take place in a smaller scale; enhance the management and control of forest resources and state-owned forest land; and provide people with technical support for production, particularly noting the need for cash crops.
