Livelihood Insecurity and Labour Migration of the Khmer in the Mekong Delta

Abstract

Labour migration is an important mode of livelihood of the people in the Mekong Delta, including the Khmer people. Through the case study of the Khmer community in Tra Vinh province, this article outlines the dynamics of the migration process of this ethnic community. Livelihood insecurity is one of the important causes for this migration. Analyzing the migration process, this article identifies that education and agricultural development are important current challenges for the development of the Khmer community.
