The Conservation and Development Policies of Cultural Values of the Khmer in Southwest Vietnam
Abstract
This article shows the importance and impact of the Khmer ethnic group for Southwest Vietnam, given that they are the second largest ethnic group in this area and maintain traditional cultural practices and values. With a description of the cultural values, political systems and implementation of policies relating to cultural safeguarding and development among the Khmer in contemporary Southwest Vietnam, the author points out that this policy implementation is not merely cultural, but seeks to protect the Khmer from the political instability and racial conflicts in Southwest Vietnam. Based on the evaluation of the Khmer-related policy implementation, the author proposes a number of recommendations to better address the conservation and development of cultual values of the Khmer people.
