Pubertal Characteristics of the 9-17 Year Old Kinh, Thai and Hmong Pupils in Dien Bien Province

Abstract

The fieldwork survey and data of adolescent characteristics of the 9-17 year old Kinh, Thai and Hmong pupils in Dien Bien province show that the puberty of target pupils at present has a tendency to occur earlier than in the past and there is a pubertal difference in terms of gender, age and ethnic group. Of which, the puberty of the female youth naturally comes earlier than that of male youth. The physical and pubertal growth of the students is influenced by multiple factors, such as heredity, nutrition, household economy, culture, practice, physical exercise, healthcare, and socio-economic development policies of the local governments.
