Real Situation and Changes of Agricultural Land Use and Management of the Hmong in Huoi Tu Commune, Ky Son District, Nghe An Province

Abstract

This article presents various ways of using and managing agricultural land among the Hmong ethnic group in Huoi Tu commune, Ky Son district, Nghe An province in past and present time. It especially analyzes changes in the Hmong cultivated land use at present. This article shows that overtime due to changes in structure of domestic animal husbandry and crop cultivation, the life of the Hmong people in Huoi Tu commune has been greatly improved. It also points out that the changes in land use and management have been closely related with governmental policies, access to the market as well as migration. The article goes on to describe the differentiation between the traditional and governmental management of land use.
