Professor Georges Condominas - A Great Scientist, Vietnam’s Intimate Friend

Abstract

Faced with bad news of the death of Professor Georges Condominas - a great anthropologist, the author expresses his feelings and thinking about Prof. Condominas’s research career through some of his publications that have been translated into Vietnamese and other documents that refer to his research. This article is divided into two main parts: 1) Background information about “the Giant”: basic curriculum vitae, working experience and some famous publications; 2) Distinguishing marks of “the Giant” on his research achievements reflected in the historic values, research approaches, research methodology, document analyzing skills and professional ethics.
