Some Current Practical Questions of the Protestantism among Ethnic Minorities in Northwest Vietnam

  • Nguyễn Văn Minh, Hồ Ly Giang

Abstract

In the renovation period, Protestantism in Northwest Vietnam began to spread rapidly with the Hmong and other minority groups. The growth of the Protestantism in Northwest Vietnam was influenced by factors inside and outside Vietnam, including sabotage by hostile forces. The religious movement has made great impacts not only on the spiritual life of the practitioners, but also on socio-economic, cultural, environmental, political aspects, and security of the region and the entire country. To help Christian and Protestantism operate within the limits set by the Vietnam constitution and state laws, the Vietnamese Communist Party and the central government monitor the religious policies and work to provide solutions in accordance with the needs appropriate to the region and the entire country as well as according to international laws and rules.
