Overview of Fixed Agriculture and Settlement Studies

Abstract

Shifting agriculture and fixed agriculture as well as settlement are popular topics of anthropology in Vietnam and in the world attracting the attention of researchers from various disciplines. A great number of work and articles concerning sedentization and fixed agriculture and settlement have been published. But, the contents, research methodology, theoretical approaches of these publications and research papers vary. The author reviews research on fixed agriculture and settlement studies carried out in Vietnam and in other places around the world during the last few decades.
