Vài nét về hoạt động trồng trọt của người Kháng ở Tây Bắc
Abstract
This article presents the activities of cultivation of the Khang people in Northwest Vietnam who remain under studied by Vietnamese anthropologists. The article examines Khang diversity of crops and seasonal calendars; knowledge of the local cultivators of the seed selection, use and seed saving for the next crop; development and use of the cultivated land for cropping purposes; different crop planting, caring, harvesting and storing skills. This study points out that Khang household-based economy is basically self-sufficient; the cultivation on the slopping land is the major economic activity while the incomes from the other activities are supplementary. At present, the pressure of the population increase and uncontrolled land exploitation used for the cultivation purposes have led to deforestation and has negatively impacted the environment. Therefore, it is necessary to have policies that promote good land use and forest regeneration to improve the household incomes and protect the environment.
