Annual Festival at Xuan Nung Village House among the Cao Lan Ethnic Minority in Xuan Luong Commune, Yen The District, Bac Giang Province
Abstract
The author describes the rituals, ceremonies, and traditional games of the Cao Lan culture performed in the annual festival of Xuan Nung village. These customs include special cultural values such as worshiping the tutelary spirit, maintaining agriculture-related beliefs, and singing traditional songs. However, in addition to these positive dimensions, there are some negative ones more or less influenced on the socio-economic and cultural development. This makes the department of culture and information as well as the community answer a question of how to preserve and develop advantages of the festival, and reduce increasing unwholesome cultural activities at present.
