Tâm tính một làng Việt: diễn giải dưới nhiều chiều cạnh
Tóm tắt
This paper provides a descriptive and explanatory view of the spirit of Doc village on the outskirts of Hanoi using various approaches. According to folk perceptions, the spirit of a Vietnamese village is conventionally either negative or positive. However, by incorporating both the villagers’ and the outsiders’ interpretations, the author points out the multi-dimensional meaning of the Doc village spirit, which is primarily negative. That is the so-called “stubbornness”. The author also provides his own explanation for the presence of this spirit: it is the adaptation process with natural and social conditions that partly nurtures Doc people’s “stubbornness”.
