Customs of Trade Villages in the Ma River Delta of Thanh Hoa Province

Abstract

Based on fieldwork and local documents collected in the two agricultural villages of An Hoach and Tra Dong, the author shows the main features of the traditional customs of the two villages which have maintained and developed their own traditional handicrafts: the An Hoach rock-carving and Tra Dong copper-casting trade villages. Every village has its own characteristics and customs; however, both of them exhibit the lifestyles of agricultural villages and the special traits of their traditional handicraft.
