A Look At the Current Training of Ethnic Minority Officers At the Local Level

Abstract

This article emphasizes the important roles of ethnic minority officers in the socio-economic development of mountainous areas in the context of industrialization and modernization. The author points out that the training of ethnic minority officers at the local level has improved significantly, with some notable achievements. However, there are still shortcomings and limitations in this field, especially with regard to the imbalance of training material and the variety of trained officers from different areas, ethnic groups and genders. The author also puts forward various reasons for such shortcomings, which are derived from central governmental policies; local governments; educational campuses; geographic characteristics; socio-economic conditions; cultural features of ethnic groups; and the officers themselves. Specific solutions for the reform of the ethnic minority officers’ training are suggested.
