Traditional Marriage of the Chu-ru Ethnic Group (A Case Study in Don Duong District, Lam Dong Province)

Abstract

This article presents concepts, types, regulations and ritual ceremonies of traditional marriage of the Chu-ru ethnic group as well as changes in their marriage in recent times based on fieldwork data collected in Don Duong district, Lam Dong province. The marriages of the Chu-ru consist of various spiritual factors relating to the long-term happiness of the married couples. Like many other ethnic groups, Chu-ru marriages are also influenced by the socio-economic circumstances of the area in which they reside. Therefore, their marriages are influenced by new factors, both positive and negative.
