  • Đoàn Minh Huấn, Nguyễn Cúc

Abstract

The article explains the impacts of  intercalary residence among ethnic groups on relationships among ethnic groups in Vietnam, both in practice and as it relates to possible future trends. The authors assert that this residential model has both negative and positive influences on every aspect of the ethnic minorities’ institutions and  relationships (political, socio-economic and cultural, etc.) as well as on the management and development of multi-ethnic regions. They examine these issues in a systematical way which embraces both static and dynamic approaches. In addition, these issues reflect both issues inherent to the group's history, culture,  and society, as well as outside influences. Based on their understanding of the impacts of  intercalary residence among ethnic groups, the authors make some recommendations for effectively making and implementing policies among ethnic groups in Vietnam.
