A Look at the Traditional Textile Trade of the Red Thai in Non Xaa Village, Xaythani District, Vientiane

Abstract

This article presents a general overview of the textile trade culture of the Red Thai in Non Xaa Village, Xaythani District, a suburb of Vientiane, Laos. The Red Thai people live predominantly in the Laotian-Vietnamese border area. Despite being highly influenced by Laotian culture, most of the traditions of the textile trade have maintained cultural aspects unique to the Red Thai people. There is an opinion that the Red Thai people in Laos originated from the area now known as Vietnam.
