Changes in Living Environment Influenced by the Urbanization (A Case Study in Trung Kinh Thuong Village, Trung Hoa Ward, Cau Giay District, Hanoi)

Abstract

Urbanization has both positive and negative impacts on the Trung Kinh Thuong community. Some positive impacts include the transition from the rural to the urban environment. Positive impacts include an increase in infrastructure leading to a higher land values around urbanized areas. Some of the negative aspects of urbanization include environmental and cultural degradation. The author suggests that the urbanization process may have cost the Trung Kinh Thuong community more than they gained. Urbanization benefited the Trung Hoa Ward more than the people, who lost much of their land through the process. To alleviate the negative impacts of urbanization, policy makers and managers should carefully implement plans that are specific to each community rather than implementing top-down policies on communities.
