Based on selected data from the 2001 to 2002 National Health Survey of the Ministry of Health and the General Statistics Office, the 2006 baseline survey report on reproductive health of the UNPFA, and other recent health research, the analysis in this article indicates the health situation and use of reproductive health services by ethnic minorities in Vietnam. In the last period, Vietnam has made efforts to improve the health and reproductive health of ethnic minorities. However, there are still some issues on health and reproductive health that need to be addressed, such as the high death rate among children under five, and the low rate of using public health services. The obstacles to the socio-economic development and improved health of the ethnic minorities are geographic distance, poverty infrastructure, low education level, and the people’s customs. These obstacles have limited the people’s ability to approach high quality social services
