Spina bifida occulta among the adult’s children of the people living in Agent Orange/Dioxin contaminated areas during wartime

Abstract

The study was held with a group of children over 16 years of age whose parents lived in the chemical sprayed areas in Quang Tri Province (Central Vietnam) between 1961 and 1971 and a cross group of children whose parents lived in the province of Ha Tinh (North Vietnam) which was not sprayed by toxic chemicals during the same period from 1961 to 1971. The author concluded: The percent of exposure children (whose parents lived in the sprayed areas during the war) who suffered from the spinal bifida disease is nearly double that of the non-exposure group.
