Abstract

So far, the Ro Ngao people in Kon Hngo Klah village, Ngoc Bay commune, Kon Tum town, Kon Tum province, have still been reserving many traditional features in their marriages. Nonetheless, under the influence of cultural interactions and fast changes of the socio-economic conditions, the traditional marriage of the Ro Ngao group has also been going through changes: the average age of marriage has risen, women and men are now free to choose their partners, cases of inbreeding and polygamy are very rare. In addition, many marriage rituals reflecting traditional cultural identity have also sunk slowly into oblivion. Therefore, it is necessary to pay more attention to the information, education and communication (IEC) of marriage and family laws and traditional cultural identity to the local people, especially the young generations.
