On behaviours toward illnesses of the Hmong

Abstract

The paper is written based on the study in the villages of Hau Thao Commune, Sa Pa District, Lao Cai Province. The author said that behaviours toward illnesses of the Hmong have been institutionalized by their culture. These behaviours are a means of struggle against illness and constitute an identity of the Hmong. The level of change in the behaviours toward illnesses of the Hmong depends on the religions and beliefs they practice (Catholicism, Protestant or traditional beliefs).
