The Relationship between Culture and Hue Urban Civilization

Abstract

The author believes that culture and civilization are always complementary. Culture plays a role in navigating civilization; in turn civilization brings modernity, integration and development to culture.  Following his reviews on urban development process in Vietnam, five specific characteristics that need special attention in development of Hue urban civilization are outlined. The author suggests that in development of Hue urban civilization, the combination between historical, cultural, geographical, demographical factors and urban civilization must be accorded a special attention.
