Traditional funeral rituals of Choro people at Xuan Truong commune, Xuan Loc district, Dong Nai province.

Abstract

 The article descries traditional funeral rituals of Choro people. 50% of the total population of 800 inhabitants practice Christianity but the rest still maintains traditional funeral rituals at Xuan Truong commune, Xuan Loc district, Dong Nai province. Some special features can be seen through author’s  descriptions. Death announcer is not a close relative but in the same kinship with the dead deceased. Villagers come to the funeral bringing nothing. Coffin was moved out of the house after removing the west wall... But nowadays Choro people’s funeral services are changed following the Kinh.
