Disease treatment ceremonies of the white Hmong (Research at Mo Cong hamlet, Phong Lai commune, Thuan Chau district, Son La province)

Abstract

According to Hmong’s  people’s illnesses are due to a “spirit” that falls on the sick person. Therefore, besides medical treatment by physicians, people should be cured in spirit by practicing ceremonies from the shaman. The article describes the ceremony of disease treatment at  one hamlet of the White Hmong.
