Localization and separatism in the context of globalization: This deals with the situation of several South East Asian countries

  • Trần Khánh

Abstract

Over the last centuries, besides globalization and regionalization, a trend of localization has emerged in South East Asia. This trend is the process of State power decentralization by transferring authority and power to local authorities. This has included even the establishment of a newly independent state or country. Parallel with this trend is, in some countries such as the Philippines and Indonesia, a development of separatist movements and violent conflict. The causes of this situation are attributed to mistakes in the development policies of these countries sometimes caused by the pressure of international forces.
