Way to Muong Heaven of the Tay at Muong Ma (Mo Lao commune, Van Ban district, Lao Cai province)

Abstract

The Tay at Muong Ma concepts the world of 3 layers: Muong Thien (Muong Heaven), Muong Thien Gian (Muong Earth) and Muong Long Vuong (Muong Water). These 3 worlds have a meeting point at cross road Tang Cap. The soul of deceased must get cross this crossroad if want to go to sky. According to worship sorcerers, a long way leading the soul of the deceased to Muong Heaven must go through 4 big doors, from each big door, they must get cross 12 small doors. The funeral ceremony of the deceased of the Tay at Muong Ma  was not only related to their religion but also very deep meaning on human life.
