  • Nguyễn Văn Lợi

Abstract

The article looks at language relationship between two local ethnic groups Cao Lan and San Chi ( belong to San Chay ethnic minority). Before and after immigrating into Vietnam, they were bi-lingual community; using both Northern Choang and Han language but starting division into two parts of population, each had different behavior towards Northern Choang and Han language. The first part of population still held Northern Choang as the first language, Han language as the second one but less use and gradually forgotten. The second part of population took the Han language as the first one and Northern Choang as the second one, less use and forgotten at later generations. This is the cause that created language difference between two groups Cao Lan and San Chi.
