The question of people’s intellectual standard and cultural development in the Khmer-inhabited areas in the southern region of Vietnam in the process of industrialization and modernization

Abstract

Cultural activities hold an important position in Khmer life on both the  individual and societal level. In development policy  concerning the Southern Khmer community, culture should be considered both a factor ensuring stability and an essential motivation. The development of culture during the process of industrialization and modernization, requires the synchronous development of different aspects of socio-economic life, particularly the development of education, the improvement of people’s intellectual standards and the training of human resources. Development of these aspects should be linked with the development of cultural activities focused on ethnicity and modernity.
