Ethnicity and nationality policy in China
Abstract
China is a multi-cultural country: in addition to the Han majority, there are 55 ethnic minority groups. Ethnic minority groups in China mainly live in mountainous and remote areas and they face many socio-economic difficulties in their lives. To help them stabilize and develop their lives, the Chinese State has implemented many policies concerning ethnic minority groups, that pay attention to equality, unity, development of autonomous regions, personnel training, the use of local languages and the preservation and development of traditional cultures, etc.
