Risks in the Commercialisation of Economic Forest Trees in the Border Area of Muong Khuong District, Lao Cai Province

Abstract
Economic forest development is considered an effective direction in many countries, including Vietnam. However, to ensure sustainability, the process needs to be controlled based on a full assessment of local conditions, resources, and market demand. The article points out some risks that commercialising forest trees poses to the Hmong and the Yao people in the border area of Muong Khuong district, Lao Cai province. These challenges threaten to reduce people's incomes and negatively affect forest management and protection.
