Priest Francoise Marie Savina and Catholic transmission into Hmong region in Sa Pa district, Lao Cai province.
Abstract
The Catholic religion was transmitted quite late in northern mountainous provinces, comped to other mountainous regions in the country. In the beginning of the 20th century, The Catholic religion was carried into the Hmong region in Sa Pa (Lao Cai) by the missionaries of MEP (Société des Missions étrangères de Paris). One of the individuals who contributed greatly to this project is the Priest Francoise Marie Savina. His active contribution left a deep mark in Catholic transmission in this region.
