Ethnology/Anthropology and Research Approach to Multidimensional Poverty in Vietnam
Abstract
Ethnological/anthropological studies of poverty situation among ethnicities in Vietnam have had the theoretical approaches and case surveys in a number of ethnicities and regions such as in the Central Highlands, Northern Central, Northern mountainous and Southern regions. Yet, the approach to interdisciplinary methods, comparison of similarities and dissimilarities of the poverty picture as well as contribution to consultancy of implementation of hungry elimination and poverty reduction policy based on the data of micro studies and the characteristics of ethnic cultures still has had its certain restrictions because from the view of multidimensional poverty it is needed to have a comprehensive approach to overcome those restrictions. Through the presentation of viewpoints of international organizations as well as theories of approaches used widespread by anthropologists and sociologists, this writing raises the discussible issues about a research approach in the circumstance of sustainable development and integration so as to make contribution to research of multidimensional poverty among ethnicities, social groups and communities in different regions of Vietnam.
