A Look at the Yao’s Village Convention in Bac Kan Province in 1932
Abstract
This research based on the text of village convention in 1932 of Yao people in Bac Kan province expresses the author’s view of the text of village convention. For comparison, the author also accesses the texts of village conventions of the Tay, Nung and midland people at the same time of their appearance. The data of village conventions show that the text of village convention of Yao people both expresses traditions and characteristics of the social life of Yao people in Bac Kan province and reflects a process of seizing the grassroot communities and intervention into affairs of ethnicities in mountainous regions of the colonial power prior to 1945
