Theory of Cultural Ecology and Approach to Cultural Study in Vietnam
Abstract
In the background of that the approaches of cultural ecology increasingly have attracted attention of researchers in Vietnam, by the analysis of a number of classic research works of the cultural ecological theory, the author attempts to present an overall view of this theory in a systematic manner. Besides, by the analysis of a number of research works according to the cultural ecological approaches in Vietnam, the author also indicates that these research works only paid attention on interpretation of cultural phenomena as a direct adaptation to environment so as to form cultures characterizing for regions. This way of interpretation is different more or less from the traditional theory of cultural ecology which attached special importance to the cultural core which in nature was elements of social organizations and religions such as a main adaptation of groups of people to environment
