The Changes of Villages of the Hmong People in Hoang Su Phi District, Ha Giang Province at Present

Abstract

Based on the field data, the article contributes to making clear the basic changes of Hmong villages in Hoang Su Phi district, Ha Giang province before and after the year of 1986. These changes have been the increase of number of villages and households in every residential locality which eventhough was narrowed because of the separation of villages and their residents leading to the changes of survival space, social institutions and management mechanism of relationships in the Hmong villages. The writing also brings to light the difference in the preservation of traditional culture, customary laws and role of the clan heads and prestigious people between the Hmong Protestants and non-Protestants
