This article investigates the relationship between social structure and strategy of interaction by examining the process by which traditional villages are reproduced. During the process of cultural reproduction, the migrants chose and reaffirmed their northern cultural identity in Southern Vietnam. The Catholic Diaspora trace back their cultural identity through their traditional village institutions. Today, the reproduced social structure of these communities show influences of modern of development. In the contemporary social context, it has become a struggle for many Catholics who must decide between culturally sanctioned strategies to maintain their community identity and choosing individual goals.
