Ethnic Studies in the Faculty of Anthropology, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University Hochiminh City: Results and Research Orientation

Abstract

The Department of Anthropology was the first in Vietnam to offer a teaching program in Anthropology. The Department combines training with basic research and applied research to modernize Anthropology and meet the needs of the current socio-economic development in the context of industrialization and modernization. In particular, the research focuses on areas, ethnic studies, basic science and development research. To achieve the strategic mission of the Department, it needs to improve both the quality and quantity of teaching staff and researchers; build a network of scientific information with other domestic and international training and research agencies; share information, coordinate research activities to develop more bilateral and multilateral research programs with universities and research institutions at home and abroad, and to modernize anthropology towards international integration.
