Changes in Structure of the Co-tu Traditional Social Organizations in Nam Dong District, Thua Thien Hue Province
Abstract
This article initially carries out changes of the Co-tu village - a basic and most important traditional social unit. Together with the development of the market economy in the Co-tu communities, social institutions and structure of this ethnic group have deeply changed in the three main following aspects: place and position of the village; some titles of the community self-governing organizations; and land use and management. Accordingly, the social management in the Co-tu community has remained the two managing types: self-governance and State management. These types of social management are not mutually exclusive, but they are mutually supportive to create sustainability in implementation and management of the community affairs.
