This article presents the role of village regulation in social management and adjustment among ethnic minorities in the mountainous areas of Vietnam, which also contributes to social stability in the village and to preservation of ethnic culture. However, compared to ethnic traditional regulations, the new regulations drawn up by the commune staff and district officers of the Department of Culture, which are in circulation in the villages of ethnic groups in Son La province, have entailed many limitations of constructing and disseminating the regulations, etc. Therefore, it is important to reform the methods of establishing village regulations in ethnic minority regions in order to promote the values of traditional regulations in contemporary social management.
