Like other ethnic groups in Vietnam, the history of the Yao is rarely written into history books of the feudal court. Many aspects of the ethnic origin of immigrants, time and places of their migration to Vietnam as well as their lives in the new home, remain unanswered. However, a survey conducted in 466 villages of the Yao in Lao Cai province found 10,318 ancient books have helped to verify the time and place of the Yao immigration into Vietnam. These ancient books are a treasure of Yao history and will certainly contribute to the studies on the Yao ethnic group in Vietnam
